Mileage Calculator FAQ

What units does the calculator use?
Inputs/outputs are miles for the United States & United Kingdom and kilometers for all other countries (including Canada).
Why does the UK show a passengers field?
The UK includes a statutory uplift of £0.05 per additional passenger per mile. The passengers field appears only when the country is set to the United Kingdom and is ignored elsewhere.
Why does France ask for engine horsepower (CV)?
France reimburses by fiscal horsepower (CV). Some bands include an additional fixed amount that is added once to the trip total (shown as its own line in the breakdown).
Do you convert currencies?
No. Totals are shown in the country’s native currency from the data (e.g., GBP, EUR, CAD, USD). No FX conversion is performed.
Does the calculator handle multi‑band split calculations?
This simple tool applies the selected band’s rate (plus any fixed amount) to the full distance. If your policy requires split‑band math across thresholds, DATABASICS Expense can apply that automatically across year‑to‑date totals and individual trips.
Is this calculator connected to a server or storing my data?
No. It runs client‑side and does not store or transmit your entries. All logic is local to your browser.
